About our PCN

The Kitimat Haisla Primary Care Network (PCN) encompasses the communities of Kitimat and Kitamaat Village in the Haisla Nation.
The Kitimat Haisla Primary Care Network is the result of a collaborative effort of planning and engagement with partners including the Haisla Nation, First Nations Health Authority, Northern Health Authority, and the Pacific Northwest Division of Family Practice.

The home community of the Haisla people, Kitamaat Village, is located at the head of the Douglas Channel on British Columbia’s North Coast.  Kitamaat Village is home to the Haisla, and is located 10 kilometres from Kitimat. The word “Kitamaat” comes from the Ts’msyen people, who originate from the Prince Rupert and Metlakatla areas.  While “Kitamaat” means ‘people of the snow’ in Ts’msyen, the Haisla name for Kitamaat Village is “Tsee-Motsa”, meaning Snag Beach.
